A love story that blossomed across distance and culminated in two heartfelt “I Do’s”. Alexandra and Raegan’s wedding journey proves that sometimes the best days come with the least stress and the most laughter.
Like many modern romances, theirs started online in early 2020.
“Typical ahaha,” Alexandra laughs remembering their first messages. Shortly after they connected, Raegan was deployed, and the official relationship had to wait until that August.
“Even with the limited contact, we knew.” She shares.
When it came to the proposal, there was no elaborate setup or sparkling ring, just an ordinary day and an extraordinary conversation.
“We don’t really have a special story! It was just a random day, no ring, a conversation and a decision to get married,” Alendra explains. A true testament that sometimes love doesn’t need theatrics, just certainty.
For Alexandra and Raegan, marriage means teamwork above all else.
“It means ‘TEAM’, we are a united front and can rely on each other no matter what our ‘opponents’ (aka life) throws at us.”
Instagram led them to find their perfect setting for the wedding. While planning a family holiday to Bali, Alexandra stumbled upon a venue that felt like fate.
“We figured ‘two birds, one stone’ and found our venue by pure luck scrolling," she says. The tropical cliff-side made the perfect backdrop for their intimate celebration.
Because the wedding coincided with their Bali holiday, their families were right there to witness the vows, making the experience all the more meaningful.
Shopping for her dream gown was, in Alexandra’s words, “hard.”
She admits she didn’t quite know what she wanted until she began trying on dresses, and even then, most felt too fussy.
“I wanted plain,” she says. Stepping into When Freddie Met Lilly changed everything.
“WFML was the first shop I visited. Nothing compared after that. I was only down for two days to shop and make a choice; so was super lucky I could squeeze in the day after to design a gown. I didn’t feel pressured into anything. They listened to me and made suggestions based off of my reactions to things and designed the perfect thing for me.”
While Alexandra searched for simplicity, Raegan surprised her by handling his own wedding attire. “I was away for work, and he actually bought it online and surprised me with a fashion show when I got home.”
Stress-free was the couple’s top priority for their wedding day. “We actually had no idea what the venue, flowers, cake, etc would look like until we rocked up to say, ‘I do’… all we had to do was get in the car when it rocked up,” Alexandra laughs.
Before their Bali wedding, Alexandra and Raegan had a small elopement ceremony in Australia, saving their personal vows to share in Bali surrounded by family.
“I didn’t have a theme; one less thing to worry about!” Alexandra says with a grin. The venue’s natural cliff-side beauty, simple soft-toned florals, and intimate setup let their love take centre stage.
When asked about the highlight of the day, Alexandra beams: “I got to marry my best friend a second time; highly recommend!”
Raegan’s reaction to Alexandra walking down the aisle is a moment they’ll never forget. “He cried, I cried, everyone cried. He said I looked stunning and so happy.”
For future brides, Alexandra offers simple advice: “Don’t stress. My wedding was just a holiday with a fancy day in the middle. It’s meant to be fun!”
She also laughs about one practical tip from her mum: “She made me dress-shop earlier than I was going to. I thought I could just walk into a shop and buy off the rack… apparently you can’t!”
Alexandra & Raegan’s story reminds us that weddings don’t need to be over-planned or over-decorated — at the heart of it all is two best friends promising forever.
