Amira and Jack's Love Story

Amira and Jack's Love Story

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

Some love stories begin with fireworks, and some, with fate; For Amira and Jack, their love story is no exception.

Having recently moved to Australia from the UK on an ‘Australian gap year,’ Jack found himself working in the Cairns Hospital Emergency department. Unbeknownst to Jack, here, in this hospital, his future wife would be waiting just around the corner.

Whilst COVID certainly had its ups and downs, for Amira and Jack, it couldn’t have worked better in their favour; having serendipitously fallen into the same friendship group at work, Amira and Jack spent much of this period going on outdoor hikes and waterfall adventures together. Surrounded by beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous mountain views, it should come as no surprise that the foundation of a lifelong partnership had begun.

When it came to proposing to the love of his life, Jack decided to organise a slightly suspicious weekend getaway to Mount Tambourine, which would see him get down on one knee, and ask the most important question of his life thus far.

After a hike around the Tambourine Mountains, Jack and Amira checked themselves into converted barn Airbnb, and went for an evening stroll. Unbeknownst to Amira, Jack had organised a very private, yet romantic picnic in a forest clearing, to pop the question.

This heartfelt moment was then sealed with a three-course dinner, prepared by a private chef - It’s safe to say that this moment felt like pure magic!

To Amira and Jack, marriage signifies partnership, and being in each other’s corner, no matter what.

“Falling in love is the easy part, but choosing love and choosing each other is something that I will do everyday”

With families in both England and Malaysia, choosing a location was one of the first big decisions regarding the wedding that Amira and Jack had to make.

“We wanted somewhere that was close to home, but not in Brisbane itself”
For the pair, the Sunshine Coast provided the ideal setting; intimate, beautiful, and close to home.

“We also wanted somewhere that most of guests could stay onsite, and also a place where we could spend the whole weekend together, as so many of our guests were coming from overseas.”

Their wedding, which saw family and friends fly in from all over the world, was a joyful occasion full of love, laughter, and a sense of pure joy; for Amira and Jack, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

When it came to finding her dream wedding dress, Amira tossed up the idea of getting a wedding dress from Etsy, or even a two-piece satin set from a high-end store. However, she later decided that dress alterations could become extremely costly, and so she decided to try on bridal dresses in store.

“When it came down to choosing a dress, it is true what they say – when I put my dress on, I instantly fell in love … and I bought it before I left the store!”

When it came to finding her bridal accessories, Amira knew that When Freddie Met Lilly was the place to look in order to make her bridal look truly unforgettable.

“[The girls at When Freddie Met Lilly] created a veil with lace from my gown … everything came together so nicely and looked so beautiful on the day.”

Much like his beautiful bride, Jack looked every bit the part in his timeless, custom-made tuxedo, that “fit him like a glove.”

It should come as no surprise that for Amira and Jack, the most important thing on their big day was ensuring that their family and friends enjoyed themselves.

“We focused on things that would really make a difference, such as good food, a great band, and good photography”

When reflecting on her experience with When Freddie Met Lilly, Amira recalls that stepping into the studio felt like being in a “very stylish, beautiful, home,” and that she “couldn’t be happier with the experience she had with Vanessa and her team.”

But Amira’s journey with When Freddie Met Lilly doesn’t end at the conclusion of her wedding, as her dress is being transformed into a two-piece outfit!

When asked what the most useful piece of advice was during their planning process, Amira says to “Choose what your priorities are, and allocate your budget based on what is most important to you as a couple … try not to let small details cause undue stress - at the end of the day, no one will even notice the small decisions (ie. font for the menu)”

So, here’s to Amira and Jack – we wish you a lifetime of happiness and love!
