ELSIE & LUKE: A VIBRANT CELEBRATION OF LOVE AND UNISON

ELSIE & LUKE: A VIBRANT CELEBRATION OF LOVE AND UNISON

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

When Freddie Met Lilly strives to accentuate the beauty of every bride. It’s our honour to be included in ceremonies with couples that have truly found each other. For Elsie and Luke, the look of love just pours from their faces and it’s one we are excited to relive.

The story of how Elsie & Luke first met is one fondly remembered by the two. First crossing paths in 2016 at the Roma Picnic Races

“It was one of those moments where you just know something special is about to unfold. And, years later, I can say with confidence it was the start of the best chapter of my life”

Their journey through love and life took them to beautifully different places, and in 2022 during a romantic getaway in Vanuatu, Luke proposed.

“It was simple, intimate and perfectly us, just like our relationship. To say I was overjoyed would be an understatement”

The couple were ecstatic to begin this next chapter together, one that would officially unite them as partners in life. To truly live out their definition of what marriage is and continue building their life.

“Marriage isn’t just a ceremony—it’s a commitment to be each other’s person, day in and day out. A partnership where you choose one another every day to walk through life, no matter what comes your way”.

After the pre-nuptials it was time to start organising the big day! When it comes to picking a venue, these things are never easy. But the main priority was to find a place that could comfortably cater to around 150 guests. As soon as Elsie visited Twin Waters Golf Club and met Georgina (the venue coordinator), much like when meeting her partner, Elsie just knew this was the place. Not only was the location stunning but Georgina just made everything effortless and easy, from start to finish. It was one of those dream moments where you just know about a place.

In a story lined with what seemed destined to play out right from the beginning for Elsie, even her dress shopping seemed fortuitous. Visiting three different stores and trying on a multitude of gowns none had felt right. But, when I slipped into my gown from When Freddie Met Lilly… it just felt right.

“I just kept coming back to the feeling I had wearing that gown. Vanessa was an absolute dream to work with. Her flexibility and willingness to accommodate not only me but also my bridesmaids (who all lives outside of Brisbane) made the whole experience seamless. Dress shopping became fun, stress-free and I cannot recommend her enough for future brides!”

Moving forward, after finding the gown, finding your grooms attire is just as important. To create a harmonious match that truly represents the connection you have and the union that is being made.

“I’ll be honest—I didn’t have much say in Luke's attire. I love him to pieces, but I was happy to leave the choice of men’s outfits to him.”

But, what Elsie did have a say in was the dress code! Opting for black-tie, they leaned into elegance, class and style. One very special touch was the dresses my bridesmaid wore. They were designed as a remake of a dress her grandmother owned from the 1950’s. Having a piece of legacy at their wedding was so meaningful and made the day even more personal. Adding that extra touch of sentimentality. It was a nod to family and tradition and something they’ll treasure forever. Plus to top it off, the girls wore pink shoes that just added that extra bit of individualism. Paired with the incredible styling from the Twin Waters Golf Club, it was everything she had imagined. Bright and beautiful, just like their entire celebration.

“One of the most important things I kept in mind throughout the day was ensuring that everyone had a great time. This day wasn’t just about me—it was about celebrating with those who mattered most to us. Soaking in the moments and being truly present was hands-down the best piece of advice I received during our planning process.”

When it came to special touches, they kept it pretty simple and let the rest of the day take centre stage. For a cute pre-wedding exercise the couple practiced their dips… yes you read that right, practiced their picture perfect dips. It was a fun moment between the two they shared before the true whirlwind started.

“For future brides, here’s my advice: Start incorporating some meditation or breathing exercises into your routine before the wedding. They really helped me stay grounded and calm throughout the journey. AND don’t sweat the small stuff - because things will inevitably go wrong. I completely forgot my veil for the ceremony! But no one noticed, and it was recovered just in time for our photos. The show must go on, as they say!”

“Looking back, our wedding day was everything we could have dreamed and more. From the laughter to the emotional moments, the people we loved, and the amazing venue, every piece of the day came together in the most perfect way. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that marriage isn’t just a wedding day—it’s a lifelong partnership. Luke and I chose each other that day, just like we do every day. And I wouldn’t want to do life with anyone else. To all the future brides out there, enjoy every moment, trust the process, and remember that the best part of the day is being surrounded by the people who love you.”

Finding a pair as beautiful and connected as Elsie and Luke is a rare sight. We could not be more thrilled to be part of such a special day and in defining their love in a physical form, through her gown and her heritage. We wish them nothing but love and happiness over the years as they continue with their love story.
