Rihannan and James’ story starts back in 2018 when they ran into each other at a bar in Coolangatta. They clicked straight away and that was the beginning of something magical.
For the proposal James had carefully and secretly planned something very special. He had organised a grazing board paired with champaign and popped the question in front of their three beautiful children during sunset.
What does marriage mean for the lovely couple? ”It means I get to spend the rest of my life with my favourite person, and we get to do life together.”
The venue was a beautiful working farm that Rihannan had always had her eye on. Being only 10 minutes away and the property within sight from their house, it added a gorgeous additional sentiment to the day. The staff were warm and welcoming, and supplied almost everything which helped ease away the stress.
”All of our family were able to be there, we had family from Sydney and New Zealand fly in, so it was very special.”
Rihannan always knew she wanted a two-piece and didn’t want an all-white dress. Her mother had already been following When Freddie Met Lilly, and when she saw our dresses, she immediately knew that was where she would find her perfect gown. We were the first place they visited, and during their initial appointment, Vanessa designed a dress specifically for her— “it was amazing”.
The best part of Rihannan’s bridal shopping experience was the warmth and welcoming Vanessa and When Freddy Met Lilly team, “how intimate the appointments were, it was so nice and personal, there was no one else trying on dresses or any interruptions.” Rihannan is actually located outside of Queensland, so there was a lot of communication over email, as well as a visit to the studio. ”It was the best experience, each visit amazing.”
The most important aspects of the day:
- Have fun
-
Plenty of
- Food
- Drinks
- Great music
“We got ready together as a family and we walked down the isle together. We then had a moment where the photographer and just the two of us went off for photos and we got to have a drink and moment together before the reception kicked off.”
The couple’s most helpful piece of advice they received was to create and do the day the way they wanted to. As well as creating a wet weather plan, which they ended up having to use - but they think it ended up better than the original idea. Rihanna’s tip for future brides is to do what makes you happy since its your day!
For both the bridal party and venue styling it was kept quite simple. With a black and blue/grey colour pallet for the bridal party and white, black and gold for the venue. The venue supplied the styling pieces, so it was just a matter of choosing and finalising the finishes. The venue also allowed the couple to attend two wedding trials prior, to get an idea for the real day. On the day their set up consisted of big round tables, fire pits, and lots of festoon lights! The florals were all dried flowers so the lovely couple can keep them forever. The colour scheme for the flowers was pink, black and silver.
