Gorgeous WFML Real Bride, Alex, wrote the gorgeous blog below, reflecting on her big day and ALL the wedding dress prep! Thanks for sharing this with us Alex, it seemed like it was the most perfect day for the most perfect couple. Congratulations!
The day went perfectly for us. All the planning, craziness and overtime at work was forgotten about almost immediately. Everybody kept telling us to make sure we took in the moment because the day goes fast. I'm so glad we did because there was something so special about being in a room celebrating your love surrounded by everyone you love and care for. Worth every minute of the planning! I remember years ago thinking I would never be able to get married and it was amazing to be standing there on the day in my dress waiting for my wife to walk down. Being a same sex marriage our wedding wasn't textbook traditional. It was nice having no precedents so we were really able to make it our own and what we wanted. We got married outdoors and kept our dresses a secret from each-other. We did a Celtic hand-fasting and Laura surprised Alex with a bagpiper because of her Scottish heritage. I won't lie, I had no idea what I wanted but knew what I didn't. I hate clothes shopping on the best of days and was honestly worried about finding that perfect dress. From the moment I walked into WFML i was comfortable. Nothing was too hard and I was made to feel special. The dress I got was beyond words perfect. It felt like it had been made for me from the moment I stepped into it. I asked about altering a few features and this was all done with ease. Laura and I kept what we were wearing a secret from each other. We even kept our hair styles seperate. I walked down the aisle first with my father and then Laura walked down after with hers. Seeing her and her dress was a moment I will never forget. She was stunning and I couldn't imagine her in something more perfect. She was breathtaking. The dress seemed to highlight my features and hide any I was worried about. I loved it so much I stayed in it and didn't want to take it off at the end! My dress was actually the third dress I tried on and the only store I went too. Once I tried it there was no competition. I'm not the girliest girl but I can honestly say I felt beautiful. I was excited to see what Laura thought and couldn't wait to have it on for the big day. It complimented me and made me all the more excited for our big day.
Being a very indecisive person I can honestly say the service and treatment I received was first class. Everyone was honest and it felt like they read my mind. Even down to the accessories. Having belts, veils and shoes to try on helped get an idea of the overall picture and really made it an enjoyable experience. I can't believe I wasn't looking forward to it when it really was one of the best parts of the journey.
Be open minded, and try a few things you never imagined you would. Ask questions and as hard as it is...don't stress. WFML really can cater to any style. Classic, stylish, contemporary etc. I can't recommend the place enough. Being in a same sex relationship with marriage only becoming legal in recent times, some of the process was daunting for us. We had to consider businesses and contractors who were supportive and had experience with the LQBTQI community. From the second I went to WFML it wasn't even a topic of discussion. It was for want of a better term 'normal'. Just like it should be. It was such a beautiful environment to be in and eased any stresses we had. The staff were genuinely excited for us and reached out to us before and after to see how we were travelling and ask about the big day and honeymoon. It may not have seemed like much to them but truly touched our hearts. I even got a beautiful congratulations card at the final dress fitting. Thank you.
