WFML Real Bride: Jess

We loved helping create Jess' dream wedding gown! Keep reading to hear an interview about her positive experience at WFML.

So please tell us - with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly?

Our day ran so smoothly! At one point I lost the shoes I wanted to get changed into but my Mum had them the whole time - that really was the biggest drama we saw on the day!

Was your wedding themed?

We didn’t really have an overarching theme in mind while planning the wedding. We both love Australian native flowers and I’m obsessed with gum leaves so I guess that played a part. Our venue itself was absolutely beautiful so I feel as though we just used our favourite flowers and the stunning scenery as our guide!

How did The Dress fit into your theme?

The main aim we had while planning the wedding was to make it a relaxing, enjoyable and laid back affair. I needed a dress that I was super comfortable and 100% myself in. I knew that I wanted long sleeves and lace but essentially had nothing else to go off when I first started searching. As soon as we started talking to Vanessa about what I was looking for in a dress, she somehow knew exactly what I wanted without me even having to think it first! Vanessa created the perfect dress for me and I’m convinced that I would have never have found it without her!

Did your man choose his Suit?

Chris loves a good suit and needed no help at all in picking what he wanted. We actually ended up changing the bridesmaid dress colour to suit the boys outfits!

How many dresses did you try on before you knew it was the one? 5? 10? 15+?

At least 15, maybe 20? Thank god for the WFML team!

How did your gown make you feel on your very Special Day?

I’m the queen of uncertainty so I was worried that something wouldn’t be quite right when I put my wedding dress on. On the morning of the big day however, as soon as I put my dress on and turned to my right to see it for the first time, I was actually speechless. It felt so perfect I honestly couldn’t believe it. I never really believed in “the perfect dress” until that moment.

Were the girls from When Freddie met Lilly helpful in what can be quite a busy and time consuming process when find The Dress?

I cannot thank the girls from When Freddie met Lilly enough. They were always so accommodating and willing to work with us to get the job done. My mum has put up with a lifetime of my indecisiveness and uncertainty and I really think Vanessa is the only reason she kept her sanity during this whole process! Without Vanessa’s insane ability to picture what I wanted without me actually saying it, I’m almost certain I wouldn’t have had a dress!
