The photos tell all! Kimberley and Corey had the most spectacular wedding day recently and we cannot get over how happy and beaming everyone is in their photos! The couple aimed for a simple, romantic and elegant wedding, and we think that sums it up perfectly. Congratulations again to this beautiful couple.
Our wedding ran very smoothly, mostly because we refused to sweat the small stuff! We kept the planning simple, so any hiccups along the way were easily dealt with and didn’t cause unnecessary stress. We didn’t really commit to a specific theme, but the style we gravitated towards was simple, romantic elegance. We wanted to keep some traditional aspects (such as the ceremony and a sit-down reception) while keeping it simple, fun and easy-going.
The gown certainly ticked all boxes for romantic elegance…the beautiful bold lace print of my dress was so eye-catching, and the boat-neck design with sleeves contributed to a traditional look. There was quite a bit of pinteresting when it came to suits! Corey is easy going and was happy to explore different options, but we knew that navy would compliment my gown (and the setting) the best.
His tie also complemented the lining of my dress, which I was really happy with when I saw the photos. I only tried on two gowns! The first dress I tried on was beautiful but my mum and family friend who were with me at the time agreed that it wasn’t really ‘me’. The next dress on the other hand, we knew was just right!
The girls at WFML were so helpful and clearly knew their stuff when it came to what is most flattering on particular body types. I am quite tall and was open to suggestion about what would suit me best…their expert advice allowed me to feel confident in making my choice. They were also very flexible about altering the design and able to make suggestions to enhance my vision. Approach dress shopping with an open mind…if you go in with a concrete idea of exactly what you what, you may miss an opportunity for something even better, or you may be disappointed when it’s not ‘exactly right’. Also, consider your body type and personality…it needs to feel ‘like you’ and you need to feel comfortable in it no matter what!
One of the best things about my wedding planning process was working with friends…I took a lot of recommendations from friends and colleagues (When Freddie Met Lilly was a recommendation from my friend Stephanie who I work with – thanks Steph!) and many of my vendors were friends who run their own businesses. This made the day so personal and I wouldn’t have had it any other way!
