Alex and Bridget: Love Written Under the Stars

Alex and Bridget: Love Written Under the Stars

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

At an Italian restaurant in Wollongong in 2018, Alex and Bridget shared their very first date together. Little did they know, it would be a preview of what their life together would become — one filled with warmth, laughter, and meaningful moments.

A few years later, in the Gold Coast hinterland and beneath a sky full of stars, Alex asked one of the most important questions he would ever ask. It was an intimate and heartfelt moment that perfectly reflected their relationship and the life they were building together. One where marriage would become a symbol of their love and commitment, a promise to choose one another every day.

Plenty of time was spent researching potential venues, but the moment they visited Kooroomba Lavender Farm, they knew it was the one. Surrounded by natural beauty, it felt like the perfect place to celebrate their love, made even more special by having both of their families there to share the day with them.

The next part of the wedding planning journey was finding the perfect dress and suit. For Bridget, she knew she wanted something pretty yet elegant, a gown that suited her personal style and fitted beautifully. This led her to When Freddie Met Lilly, where a custom-made gown ensured her dress was everything she had dreamed of. Having a dress made specifically to her body was a highlight of the experience, and working closely with Vanessa helped ease any nerves along the way.

The experience didn’t stop there, with the couple also working with Vanessa to design Alex’s wedding attire. His fully custom suit was filled with thoughtful details, from the texture of his pants matching his bow tie to the subtle embroidery of their wedding date hidden inside his jacket – a meaningful touch just for the two of them.

On the wedding day, one of Bridget’s most treasured moments was their first look together. A quiet, emotional pause before the celebrations began, and a chance to see each other in their final wedding attire for the first time. Later in the evening, Bridget swapped her heels for custom white high-top Converse adorned with lace and floral embroidery, ready to dance the night away in comfort and style.

Bridget and Alex chose not to have a formal bridal party, allowing them to focus on what mattered most: celebrating alongside their closest friends and family. The venue styling reflected this beautifully, with long wooden tables, soft cream runners, and delicate flower posies creating an effortless and romantic atmosphere. Florals played a special role throughout the day, with Bridget carrying a stunning bouquet of pink and purple-toned roses and complementary blooms. Alex, both fathers, and Bridget’s two brothers wore matching boutonnières featuring dusky pink roses, tying everything together seamlessly.

Reflecting on the planning process, Bridget shared that the most helpful advice she received was to be purposeful and remember that their wedding day was theirs to shape. Her advice to future brides? Stay organised, follow planning timelines, and don’t feel pressured to follow traditions that don’t feel right.

Bridget describes her experience with When Freddie Met Lilly as nothing short of wonderful, feeling comfortable, supported, and truly listened to throughout the journey. With love, intention, and personal touches woven through every detail, Bridget and Alex’s wedding day was a heartfelt celebration of their story — timeless, meaningful, and uniquely theirs.
