WFML REAL BRIDE: IMOGEN

WFML REAL BRIDE: IMOGEN

Posted by Vanessa Hoe on

Thankfully for Imogen and Nathan, in this time of continuing uncertainty, their fabulous celebration of their love was not changed and went ahead as planned. The couple was extremely lucky to only have a few people unable to attend and in no way did they want to postpone. They decided it would be more difficult finding a new date that wasn’t already taken and they wouldn’t find one they were absolutely smitten with.

Everything ran smoothly and in Imogen's words “quite frankly even if it didn’t, I wouldn’t have known, Flaxton (our wedding planner) handled any and every little detail. He kept everything short and sweet so we were able to enjoy our night”.

As for her dress, Imogen knew she wanted a two-piece gown right from the beginning. “My mum was actually searching for two-piece dresses online when, When Freddie Met Lilly popped up. I originally booked an appointment alone and tried on, I don’t know how many dresses, but by the end I was still a little unsure and wanted another person’s input. So, I rebooked and went straight back to the two-piece I’d tried on earlier and decided… IT WAS THE ONE! Vanessa was so supportive throughout the entire process and didn’t rush me at all like other places. She encouraged me to talk about how I felt in the dresses and what I did and didn’t like and didn’t try to push her opinion onto me like other dress makers had done.

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the dresses and the different sizes available. In the places I had been prior, the fabric was either torn, worn, the colour had changed or it was a size 6/8 which was quite disappointing for a curvier woman.  But, when I found THE gown, it made me feel unique and beautiful! Not many people get married in two-pieces and I think with the style and venue and the flowers, our guests were amazed and wowed.

In terms of my husband's suit, finding the perfect one may have been the most time consuming process of them all! I gave him the option to choose his own suit and it made the decision all the more difficult. It turned into a sort of running joke between the wedding party, as it took me 15 minutes to pick the bridesmaids dresses but took Nathan 6 months and many trips to the shops to finally choose a suit. In the end though, the suit complimented my dress perfectly.

As for the WFML team, I didn’t have much to do with anyone other than Vanessa which I appreciated. I felt respected and there was a sense of continuity. When I came back to try on the gown we could easily continue our conversations. I appear quite shy when first meeting people so only meeting and working with Vanessa was really beneficial for me, especially when picking and trying on my dress.

My advice for other brides is to follow your gut, listen to what the people you brought along say but don’t always change something because they don’t like it or have a different opinion. At the end of the day, this is your wedding and you want to look back at your photos and be happy with what you picked.
