Tomal and Kyle: Country Lovebirds, Rustic Wedding

Tomal and Kyle: Country Lovebirds, Rustic Wedding

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

A classic good ol’ friends-turn-lovers trope always warms our hearts, and Kyle’s and Tomal’s love story might just be the newest one that we are obsessing over. Introduced by their mutuals, the pair first met in 2021 at the Kilcoy rodeo. And as cliché as it sounds, the rest was history!

“Marriage to me is showing that little bit extra commitment to someone you love and wish to spend your days with.”

While the proposal took Tomal completely by surprise, for Kyle, it was an intimate display of his affection – just for the lovebirds alone to embrace. It was a random quiet July afternoon, and the pair was home alone with their son. Having started a fire in the backyard, a cozy ambience was already set. All of a sudden, Kyle got down on one knee and asked for Tomal’s hand in marriage. And of course, you can guess what happened next…

From then, Tomal immediately started planning for the big day. In her words,

“You can never be too organised! The day sneaks up super quickly and the next thing you know it’s a week out. So don’t worry about being 'too early'. If it’s what you want and you're happy with it - lock it in.”

And we couldn’t agree more. The wedding photos and ceremony turned out so amazing with her hard work and we are SO SO jealous!

For Tomal and Kyle, setting the atmosphere perfectly was one of the most important boxes to check. Including making sure everyone was fed. Nobody wants a hangry entourage, stressed out bride or negative energy dampening one of life’s biggest celebrations! So, the pair decided on a serene and peaceful venue to evoke a sense of relaxation. And it did! Everyone was in a good mood, as they soaked up all the happiness in the room and had no time limit to worry about leaving/ staying through the night.

To Tomal’s surprise, finding her gown was less of a trouble than she expected. As she was guided through When Freddie Met Lilly’s unique bridal gown process, she found her perfect match easily. At our quaint little boutique, Vanessa and Tomal pulled together elements that she loved from different dresses and pieced together a unique gown that fitted her gorgeous self perfectly. A completely bespoke take on our Georgia gown, we embellished additional fringes that gave the fun country feel she was looking for, but also added illusion lace sleeves to enhance her elegance and beauty.

“At When Freddie Met Lilly, Vanessa and the girls were so welcoming and friendly. Vanessa is incredibly helpful and such a support girl! She’s got you every step of the way.”

Tying in with the rustic country vibe,  the pair adorned themselves in a customised burnt hat, and Kyle sported a smart casual ensemble that could be easily worn again on another occasion. Going for a neutral theme with her DIY flowers and table décor, Tomal arranged some faux white roses, dried wheat and bunny tails, and a few other neutral filler flowers for her girls’ bouquets, popping against their Hunter Green bridesmaids dresses. On the groom’s side, they put the boys in complementary black/ dark denim and had a silver bullet shell embedded within their boutonnieres for a special twist.

Throughout the entire process, the couple were enamoured by the relationships they were lucky to be surrounded with and the memories that will last a lifetime. From searching for her gowns with her bridesmaids, to having their family and friends help with the prep work a week out from the wedding, to even receiving well wishes from loved ones that were unable to travel down. Everything turned out to be a special moment to reminisce back on for the lovebirds. Even during the bridal party, Tomal and her bridesmaids had a blast putting temporary tattoos of the groom’s face on their legs.

For a final piece of advice, Tomal divulges in how she managed to stay on top of her wedding and have it all sorted out:

"Do not stress on the day! People are there to help, take it. Also highly recommend an outfit change - it saved me worrying about ruining my stunning bespoke gown."
