In a serendipitous encounter, Mollie met the love of her life on the first night of her solo adventure in Bangkok. A whirlwind romance unfolded, with the two spending the next four days by each other's sides, exploring the city and getting to know one another. After Julian met her family in the United Kingdom, he asked her to be his girlfriend against the breathtaking glaciers and rugged landscapes of Iceland. “During this time, we applied for my holiday working visa and 4 months later I was in Brisbane!” Mollie says.
Without Mollie suspecting a thing, Julian had taken a couple of afternoons off work to learn a new skill: horseback riding. “One Sunday afternoon (my favourite day of the week!) he told me he had organised an activity (something we often do for each other) this one turned out to be the best of my life!” That afternoon the couple embarked on a horseback riding adventure. When the sun began to dip towards the horizon and the perfect photo opportunity presented itself, Julian dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. “The rest of the weekend was full of more surprises and beautiful memories.”
When their day finally arrived, Mollie and Julian tied the knot in a spectacular celebration held at Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens in March 2023. Friends and family gathered from near and far. Mollie was surrounded by 18 of her dearest, who flew all the way from England to share in the joy of this occasion and celebrate the couple's beautiful bond and commitment to one another. It was most important to her that she was able to relax and embrace every moment. She says “I was told about how fast it goes, I wanted to make sure Julian and I took the time to appreciate the effort everyone had gone to be there. It was amazing.”
After discovering When Freddie Met Lilly’s bespoke bridal gowns and trying on a couple, Mollie knew she would be able to find a dress that would fulfil her bridal dreams. Leading up to Mollies visit she discovered a quintessential elegant sleeve detail that she knew she needed for her wedding dress. Mollie came into the bridal shop in Bardon, Brisbane, seeking out her dream bridal dress for her rustic garden wedding and When Freddie Met Lilly turned out to be the perfect match. Mollie cherry-picked the Harper Gown wedding dress with custom details to create her perfect bridal gown. With the expert guidance of her mother and Vanessa’s unparalleled eye for detail, Mollie went for a mermaid silhouette, fitted around the bodice and erupting into a dramatic flare down the skirt. Mollie’s dress was made to measure with When Freddie Met Lilly and over two fittings we were able to finalise a couture wedding dress that fitted Mollie’s measurements perfectly.
She added unique details, to make her wedding dress truly one-of-a-kind, made to measure piece, personal to her. She added buttons from her grandmother's wedding dress down the back of her own gown, representing a nod to the past, and a vision of the future, creating a stunning visual link between generations. But that was not all - she added boho bespoke sleeves, that added an ethereal touch to the wedding gown. The custom-made bridal gown, made from luxurious Gwendolyn lace, was the epitome of sophistication and elegance.
Following their wedding ceremony, Mollie switched to shoes that felt more suitable for dancing the night away. Style is important to her but when it comes to comfort, there is no compromise! “I knew I didn’t want to be killing myself in high heels all night whilst others relaxed! I love to be stylish, but I love comfort more - so I had a pair of personalised vans made for the dance floor!” Her vans were complete with her new name ‘Mrs. Taylor’, along with her wedding date, and intricately embroidered flowers.
The couple also added a few personal touches to make their wedding day truly their own. “Julian wore his late grandad's wedding ring & I had a locket photo of my late grandparents, dad’s parents, on my bouquet so they were with us when we walked.” Every detail counted and was the perfect reflection of their love story.
Mollies advice for future Brides and Grooms is, “Take it all in and enjoy it! Not just the day, but the whole process, it’s all for you and everyone is there to celebrate you and your partner. Let the little things slide and make some selfish decisions if it means you’ll be able to enjoy the day more.”
Vanessa, worked closely with Mollie every step of the way to capture her desired look embodied within the details of her wedding dress.
“Meeting Vanessa was a dream from start to finish. She has a genuine love for what she does and is so talented and trusting with her opinions. She made the process so seamless, and with my mum being in the country for only a few weeks, she was so willing to find a time to make an appointment work to ensure she could be there,” Mollie says.
