Amber and Tom’s story began the modern way, online. After chatting for a week, they met for what was meant to be a quick drink, but it quickly turned into several hours of conversation. From there, they built a beautiful relationship centred around openness, honesty and doing life together in a way that felt true to them.

In July 2025, they booked a holiday to the Daintree Rainforest after choosing Amber’s sapphire engagement ring together a few months earlier. While staying at the beautiful Daintree Ecolodge, Tom planned a picnic near the waterfalls. Once they settled onto their rug surrounded by the rainforest, he told Amber everything he loved about her and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together.
Marriage to Amber and Tom is the greatest partnership of all, sharing life’s adventures, messy moments, daily routines and greatest joys. Open and honest communication has always been at the heart of their relationship, and their marriage needed to begin the same way they had approached everything else: their way.

When it came to choosing their venue, Walkabout Creek was an easy decision. It had been special to them since their fourth date and became somewhere they regularly visited for breakfast, kayaking, swimming and walks. Some of their deepest conversations and most memorable moments happened there, so getting married somewhere already filled with meaning felt perfect.
While searching for her dream gown, Amber knew she wanted something that reflected her love of nature while feeling timeless, classic and beautiful. The moment she spotted the Houston gown on the When Freddie met Lilly website, she knew she had to try it. It was the first dress she put on and immediately felt like nothing else would compare. The beautiful beading and detailing perfectly complemented the whimsical, ethereal feeling she envisioned for the day.
With the help of the WFML team, Amber added sewn-in sleeves, a structured bodice and bust, and buttons down the back, making an already beautiful gown feel completely her. Instead of a traditional veil, she chose a gorgeous floral headpiece that perfectly matched the blush underlay of her gown.

Tom also created his custom suit with When Freddie met Lilly, with Amber and his mum joining him for the experience. Together, they chose everything from the fabric and colour to the buttons, lapel and vents, with Amber offering a little guidance to ensure his look complemented her gown perfectly.
There were plenty of personal touches too, including surprise embroidery hidden inside Tom’s jacket lining, memorial photo pins honouring their grandparents, and custom whipbird socks inspired by their favourite bird and the sounds they love hearing at Walkabout Creek.
Amber and Tom chose not to have a bridal party, instead deciding to get ready together so they could spend as much of the day side by side as possible. Amber embroidered their initials onto their getting-ready pyjamas, and instead of champagne, they shared a pot of special Glögg tea in custom mugs, a beautiful nod to the cups of tea they have shared since almost their first date.

Their styling embraced natives, rich winter tones and the natural beauty of the rainforest. The ceremony featured a greenery aisle runner and arbour, while the reception brought in navy menus, burgundy napkins, custom chocolate favours, candles and fairy lights. A gorgeous greenery wall became the backdrop for their first dance and some very special photos.
Amber’s dried native bouquet was filled with woody, earthy tones and rich burgundy details that looked incredible against the rainforest. Matching buttonholes and wrist corsages were also created as a surprise for their parents.
One of the sweetest moments of the day was their first look. Although they got ready together, Amber kept her gown hidden until she walked down a long hallway and tapped Tom on the shoulder. He turned around, speechless, before telling her, “It’s perfect,” with a tear in his eye.
Their absolute highlight was walking hand in hand down the aisle and seeing all of their favourite people gathered together. After months of planning, seeing their vision come to life while surrounded by the people they loved was something they will never forget.
Some advice from the bride and groom:
Do your day your way. Don’t stress about the small things because the most important part is marrying your person. Your guests will remember how the day felt, not the cutlery or colour of the napkins. Take a moment to look around during the ceremony, carve out some time just for each other, and don’t be afraid to create your own traditions rather than doing something simply because it is considered “normal.”
Amber described her When Freddie met Lilly experience as amazing, saying it felt like they had friends alongside them for the entire journey thanks to Vanessa and her beautiful team. From every appointment and fitting to the personalised details of their wedding looks, they felt listened to, welcomed and incredibly special.
