WFML REAL BRIDE: SAMANTHA (as seen in Brisbane Weddings Magazine)

"You put so much time and effort into planning everything so it’s important to remember to enjoy every moment and not sweat the small things when it actually comes to the day itself." Continue reading to hear more from WFML Real Bride Samatha, who has been working within the wedding industry for over 5 years!

So please tell us - with months (or even years!) of planning, did the Big Day run smoothly?

I know pretty much everyone says this after their wedding but it truly was the BEST day of our lives. We’ve been together almost 10 years, and I’ve been working in the wedding industry for half that time(!) so the day couldn’t have come quickly enough. We booked our venue (Spicers Hidden Vale) one year out from the day which we felt to be perfect timing (enough time to plan, but it also came quickly enough to keep us on our toes and super excited). The day itself was perfect in my eyes. You put so much time and effort into planning everything so it’s important to remember to enjoy every moment and not sweat the small things when it actually comes to the day itself.

Did you have an idea of which style you wanted before beginning the search for your Bridal Gown? And did this change much after you saw the girls at WFML?

I feel there were lots of elements in our wedding which captured an ‘old world style’. I was lucky enough to have quite a good idea in my head about what I wanted for my dress, but visiting Vanessa in her studio was an experience like no other. Vanessa listened carefully to my requests, looked at all my Pinterest images and thought about what I wanted to create. She massaged my ideas into the amazing dress it ended up to be! I felt amazing in it and that’s truly the most important thing I believe.

I only tried on one dress! I didn’t plan it this way, but that first day when I visited Vanessa and we spoke about ideas, I was instilled with so much confidence that she knew EXACTLY what I was after. I thought it would be silly for me to visit another dress-maker or shop and confuse myself when I was extremely happy already. They were extremely helpful; the whole team. I can’t recommend When Freddie met Lilly enough.

What about your man - did he choose his suit? Or was there some guidance from you?

My husband had a few ideas about how he’d like his suit to be. He chose it but I certainly supported it too. The light blue suit colour and tan accessories really did work well with the other colours we had (i.e. bridesmaids dresses), and I think it worked nicely with my dress too. Ryan always likes to be a bit different to everyone else with his ‘style’ so the unique light blue colour choice was quite fitting for this reason too.

Any tips for our future Brides choosing a gown that makes the day complete?

Go with your gut-feeling. If it’s feeling good and you’re excited then that’s it! There’s probably 1 million dresses you could choose that might look fabulous on you…at the end of the day it’s what you decide your favourite look is, and most importantly what you feel happy, confident and comfortable in on the big day.
