When Freddie Met Lilly Real Bride: Jessica's Love Story

When Freddie Met Lilly Real Bride: Jessica's Love Story

Posted by Phoebe Danieli on

Jess and Lonnie crossed paths in 2017 while playing AFL for a local Mackay team. Their connection blossomed during a pre-season carnival, followed by a lively night out in Airlie Beach. Considering this serendipitous beginning, they found it fitting to exchange vows in the same place where their love story first ignited.

In 2020, Jess and Lonnie embarked on a spontaneous trip to Hamilton Island. During a picturesque hike leading to a secluded beach, Lonnie seized the moment and popped the question. This spontaneous proposal perfectly mirrored their desire for living life on the fly. Despite purchasing the ring on the morning of their departure after a night shift, it remains a cherished memory of their journey together.

For Jess, marriage signifies having her best friend by her side for life. Lonnie has witnessed every facet of her emotional spectrum, fostering a deep understanding and bond between them. They eagerly anticipate the journey ahead, supporting each other through every triumph and challenge.

The allure of the Whitsundays, just an hour and a half away from their hometown of Mackay, captured Jess and Lonnie’s hearts. Villa Botanica, with its stunning backdrop of the Coral Sea, emerged as their dream wedding venue. The added convenience of a dedicated wedding coordinator made the planning process seamless, while the staff's exceptional service ensured their day was nothing short of magical.

With family spread across Adelaide and Brisbane, Jess and Lonnie felt immensely grateful that their loved ones could attend their special day. Despite a last-minute mishap when Jess’s mother broke her shoulder on the morning of the wedding, they rallied together to ensure she could still be part of the celebration.

Jess envisioned an unconventional wedding dress, opting for a two-piece outfit that she could potentially wear again. With the assistance of Vanessa from 'When Freddie Met Lily', she found the perfect gown that aligned with her vision, receiving invaluable advice and support along the way.

The search for the perfect gown was a memorable experience shared with Jess’s mother and sister-in-law. Opting to find her gown in Brisbane from a locally owned company, she found unwavering support from her family throughout the process.

Lonnie's attire was a collaborative effort, with his Jess expressing a preference for neutral colours. Thanks to the keen eye of his mother, he effortlessly embodied the brief in a stylish linen suit.

Jess and Lonnie cherished every moment of their wedding day, surrounded by beloved family and friends. The joy of being together with loved ones, coupled with the indulgent pampering of the getting-ready experience, made the day truly unforgettable.

Jess and Lonnie’s primary wish for their wedding day was for everyone to have a wonderful time. Thanks to the venue's exceptional service, their guests enjoyed every moment of the celebration.

Prior to exchanging vows, Jess and Lonnie exchanged heartfelt gifts. Lonnie's thoughtful gesture of a cap embroidered with a trout, symbolised their shared love for fishing, while Jess opted for a playful gift of personalised underwear. They also shared intimate messages written on the bottoms of their shoes, adding a personal touch to their special day.

Creating the guest list proved to be a challenging task, as Jess and Lonnie grappled with the desire to include everyone dear to them. Following sage advice from their parents, they prioritised inviting their closest friends and opted for a videographer to capture precious moments, ensuring they could relive the day for years to come.

Jess's heartfelt advice for future brides, encourages them to infuse personal touches into their wedding day. Straying from tradition, she urges brides to stay present, have fun and relish in the love and support of their closest friends and family. After all, the celebration of love is a momentous occasion worthy of the utmost joy and celebration.
