What a beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple, all put together by Georgie and her thrifty skills!
After getting engaged on their 7th anniversary, Georgie and now husband Beau quickly set out planning their traditional ceremony and reception. The two didn't hire a wedding planner but rather made all the decorations by hand from used items found on none other than the Facebook Marketplace! This particular 'look' was curated by Georgie to be a vintage 1940's theme with a modern twist - that twist being that none of the pieces were actually vintage. How creative!
Georgie knew that she was after a long sleeved gown to keep her warm in the winter weather and cover a rather large tattoo on her shoulder. The hunt for a wedding gown was not easy for this bride, until she found us at When Freddie Met Lilly. She said; "I literally looked on the website for every single bridal store in Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast on top of messaging a few seamstresses that specialise in bridal dresses. I only found 2 stores that sold any dresses in a vintage style, one of those was WFML."
We were so honoured to take Georgie through our range and help find her a gown that she never suspected she would wear! "My gown made me feel like Hedy Lamarr, who encapsulates that vintage glam look! I chose a trumpet style dress to show off my curves yet had a modest neckline and long sleeves making me feel the right mix of classy, sexy and confident." Georgie helped then fiance Beau find his perfect suit to reflect the post-war vintage feel of the wedding. Their outfits worked amazingly together and couldn't have been more perfect for their big day!
The lovely Georgie shared some great advice for all those future brides out there in the midst of finding their dream gown:
- Choose the gown YOU want that makes YOU feel special.
- You know the right dress when you cannot stop admiring yourself in the mirror!
- Looking great is a key element but enjoying every moment is even more important.
