Celebrating Love: Tom and Emma’s Joyful Journey
Meeting in Harmony
Tom and Emma first crossed paths at university, drawn together by a shared passion for music in an orchestra that wasn’t affiliated with their respective faculties. This vibrant space of creativity and collaboration set the stage for their love story.
The Meaning of Marriage
For them, marriage symbolises more than just a ceremony; it marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Having been together for quite some time, the concept of lifelong commitment felt like a natural progression. Plus, who doesn’t love a good excuse to throw a party?
Choosing the Venue
The couple wanted their celebration to reflect their laid-back style and the warmth of their community. Their official ceremony took place at the Brisbane registry with family, but the real fun began at the reception. They chose a charming community hall with a cosy caravan café, creating a low-key setting surrounded by their beloved 'village.'
Finding the Dream Gown
Initially, Emma had her heart set on a second-hand gown. However, family superstitions about wearing pre-loved clothing on such an important day led her to reconsider. Ultimately, she chose a two-piece gown, allowing her to repurpose each piece for future occasions. For the winter wedding, a leather jacket was custom-made, which has since become a staple in her wardrobe.
The Most Important Detail
As the day unfolded, the couple's primary concern was simple: they wanted everyone to be well-fed and having a great time. Creating an atmosphere of joy and comfort was essential, and they believe they succeeded.
Advice for Future Brides
For anyone planning a wedding, the top tip is to trust the process. It’s easy to get caught up in the details, but it’s crucial to remember what truly matters—love and the support of family and friends.
Experience with When Freddie Met Lilly
Working with the team at When Freddie Met Lilly was a dream. Their knowledgeable and genuinely interested approach made the experience feel personal and bespoke. The ability to customise made all the difference, allowing the couple to express themselves through their attire.
Styling for the Day
They didn’t have a traditional bridal party but did have an ‘unofficial’ maid of honour and best man. The couple encouraged them to wear whatever made them feel fabulous, and it warmed their hearts to see them reusing outfits from previous celebrations.
For the venue, the styling was kept simple and DIY. With plastic trestle tables and chairs from the hall, they dressed them up with tablecloths, runners, and small jars of fresh native flowers. Stringing fairy lights everywhere created a magical atmosphere—after all, their focus was on good food and great company, not extravagant decor.
Floral Touches
The floral arrangements featured a delightful mix of pinks, reds, and burgundies, with roses, peonies, and lovely foliage. The boys sported boutonnieres that tied everything together beautifully.
Looking back on the wedding day, it is clear that it was not just about the details but the love that surrounded the couple. With friends and family by their side, they celebrated not only their union but also the community that has supported them through it all. Here’s to love, laughter, and a lifetime of music together!
