Eloise and Mitchell's Love Story

Eloise and Mitchell's Love Story

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

On the 9th of August 2025, beneath the rustic charm of Samsonvale & District Public Hall, Eloise and Mitchell celebrated a love story that began five years earlier on a New Year's camping trip. What started as a friendship through mutual friends blossomed into a life full of laughter, adventure, and marriage.

Mitchell’s proposal was as heartfelt as it was perfectly imperfect. During a big family holiday on Fraser Island, nerves got the better of him more than once. But one evening at camp, with courage (and a couple of drinks) on his side, he broke out the ring box and asked the simplest, sweetest question: “What do ya reckon?” Of course, Eloise said yes.

For this couple, marriage is about being with your person every single day, celebrating the incredible moments, and holding each other steady through the hard ones. That grounding love sets the tone for a day that was equal parts relaxed, joyful, and deeply meaningful.

With a focus on creating a day filled with warmth and personality, Eloise and Mitchell opted for a DIY celebration at Samsonvale & Districts Public Hall. Its history, affordability, and country charm ticked every box; whether by blood or by charm, it was the perfect place to say I do.

When it came to finding her dream gown, Eloise walked in with no expectations. The style she thought she wanted didn’t feel right, but with the help of her bridesmaids and our stylist, Laura, she discovered a look that was completely her own. “We pulled elements from different dresses until we found something that suited me perfectly,” she shared.

Reflecting on her gown journey with When Freddie Met Lilly, she shared: “The team was gorgeous, supportive, and made me feel special. 5/5.”

As a self-described “bigger gal”, she admitted to feeling nervous that some designs wouldn’t work, but he worries melted away.   “The team made me feel completely at ease. It felt easy and comfortable, like chatting with friends while creating something beautiful.”

When Mitchell saw her walking down the aisle, he didn’t cry, but he did something even more special. He grinned from ear to ear and told her she looked beautiful. “He never uses that word; usually it's just ‘hot’ or ‘alright’, so it meant the world to me.”

The couple thoughtfully honoured Michell’s late mum in their celebration. Mitch wore cufflinks with her fingerprints, and Eloise carried her locket in her bouquet. It was a tender reminder that love carries forward, even when someone can’t be there in person.

Rustic simplicity defined their wedding. White florals and soft pink accents, navy and cream suits for the boys, and light blue dresses chosen individually by the bridesmaids set the tone. The hall came alive with warmth, laughter, and music; exactly what mattered most to the couple.

The vows and speeches stood out as the heart of the celebration. Halfway through the ceremony, a downpour interrupted the moment, but instead of spoiling it, it added to the magic, creating a memory that will never fade.

Eloise’s advice is simple yet profound: “Go with the flow. Don’t get caught up in tiny details. The day flies by, and what matters most is marrying your person and celebrating with those you love. Invite only the people you truly want there.”

A heartfelt celebration of love, family, and forever; Congratulations to Eloise, Mitchell, and little Lucy.
