Kylie and Matthew's Love Story

Kylie and Matthew's Love Story

Posted by Vanessa Ford on

“Marriage is not about fireworks or perfection, but about finding peace, safety, and home in one another. Marriage means showing up, growing together, holding space for joy and grief, and building a life of love and laughter. Calm, constant, and comforting.”

Just like many modern-day love stories, Kylie and Matthew first met online, sharing life stories about their children, careers, and journeys. Their love had already sparked when Matthew first asked Kylie out on a date, and Kylie suggested meeting earlier, and the rest is history.

Memorable and Uniquely “Us” Proposal

Matthew took Kylie to a da-spa, the same one Kylie had taken him to during their early days, which became one of their favourite activities to enjoy together. Matthew worked with the staff to recreate the experience with a special twist. After the massages, Kylie walked down the hallway, followed by Matthew. The bathhouse was waiting for them with a personalised blanket covered with roses, fairylights, and candles, creating the perfect scene. Matthew gently escorted Kylie inside, then dropped to one knee, asking her to become his wife.

Venue:

Kylie and Matthew chose Cowbell Creek as their venue, somewhere that felt like a little escape, just like how they loved getting away to the Hinterland.

“And as an extra special bonus, the Highland cows on the property completely won Matthew over, they were impossible to resist!”

The Day:

Since Kylie and Matthew had created their own blended family, it was a special moment when their family from interstate and abroad made it there for their special day. Even though they were missing two special people, Kylie’s beautiful niece and Matthew’s late mother, who had passed away, they felt their presence, watching over the wedding.

Seeing their blended family come together as one, Kylie and Matthew dancing, surrounded by their children and loved ones, felt like the perfect celebration of the life they continue to build together.

“That sense of love, joy, and togetherness is something I will cherish forever.”

Aside from feeling connected and united with their families, Kylie and Matthew made sure to include a few private moments together on their big day. Just like they were advised to spend as much time together, because after all, they are marrying each other, not everyone. Going for a sunset walk, taking pictures, and simply being in the moment, just the two of them. At night, slipping outside, sharing quiet laughter under the night sky, making the day feel even more personal and unforgettable through these small, intimate moments together.

The Gown

Kylie knew from the start that she wanted a long-sleeved gown, perfect for her winter wedding. She fell in love with the practicality that came with the elegance, allowing the sleeves to be removed for dancing, later in the evening. Kylie felt graceful and confident with the open back, adding a touch of romance and modernity.

Kylie loved the gown shopping experience of trying on gowns, and suddenly feeling the wedding is real.

“In the time I spent with her (Vanessa), I felt seen, celebrated, and completely at ease, creating memories that go far beyond the dress fitting.”

The Style

Kylie and Matthew loved the idea of earthy tones, and they decided to create a neutral, grounded palette-themed wedding. They decided to bring the warmth and vibrancy of orange through their flowers, using greenery and candles to highlight the wooden features, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere with special photos of their parents and grandparents on their wedding days. The girls wore champagne, and Matthew and the boys wore similar, soft, and elegant linen tones.

Kylie’s advice for future brides is to focus on what truly matters to you and your partner. To add personal touches and make a one-of-a-kind wedding, celebrate your love.

“Take moments to pause, soak it all in, and enjoy being present with your partner.
