For Heather and Darren their special day was scheduled for 18 months after their engagement. Due to COVID and constantly changing restrictions stopping their interstate guests from attending, the two discussed “postponing for about 5 minutes, then decided to just run with it all on the day, no matter what restrictions. “Getting married to each other was the most important thing”.
With Heather's son in the Army in NSW, the best man and is wife in Canberra and 16 of their interstate guests attending, lockdowns were not ideal for the couple. Luckily for them, 1 week before the wedding, restrictions were lifted and they were able to have 75 of their closest QLD friends and family attend. But the couple would've been just as happy for it to have just been them and the celebrant if situations worsened.
When it finally arrived, their big day ran perfectly! “There was not a thing that did not run smoothly. Honestly, it was the most beautiful, magical day with so much love and happiness and everything ran like clockwork” Heathers dress and Darren’s suits both complemented the venue by the water and the ceremony and reception with their beautiful garden setting with lush green everywhere.
From the start, the dress finding process was relatively easy. Though Heather hadn’t thought too much about their outfits, she wanted her dress to be stylish and classy and timeless. She wanted something tailor made so it would fit perfectly and not be too heavy. “I found When Freddie Met Lilly and discovered I loved their lace dresses. Vanessa showed me a few goans and after the first few, she had narrowed down my style and I just fell totally in love with the intended dress” opting for a Bespoke Emmery Gown with an embellished bodice. As for Darren, the suit complimented Heathers in being a navy colour that consequently matched their wedding stationary as well.
Heather said, “As soon as I put on the dress, I felt like the most glamorous girl in the world! It was so light and comfortable and easy to wear with only a short puddle train so I could move freely. It was so beautiful. It was truly so amazing to wear a dress custom made for me, a one-off, which fit me perfectly. I didn’t want to take it off!”.
Heather’s advice to other brides is that “if there is something you really want in or at your wedding, make sure you do it. This is the one day it is all about you and your partner. So do what you both want to do!”
All in all, Heather and Darren’s magical day could not have gone better! Congratulations to the happy couple and we wish them all the best with married life!
